Linux on the Casio's graphing calculator hardware

Posté le 18/10/2026 00:08

Bonjour, everyone

Currently the port only serves Linux as an application (.g1a). In the future, I would want to make
it run independently (ROM).

So far, I've managed to get the kernel loading through a .g1a application, and I've been working on SH7305 support, memory mapping, and Device Tree support for a full contribution.

===========================================

Note: FX-9750GIII is only supported device, FX-9760 family has not been tested yet, you can be the one testing it, reply on this branch.
============================================================================================
Regarding any contributing . You can PR on Forge Git repository, and I would appreciate,
not emailing any patches (git send-email to SuperH branch contributing, upstream) with code that has my name on it. And anything that has not been verified its either working or not.

If you're the one who is using any LLM's or AI and is about to contribute with a PR request e.g.
. YOU are responsible for testing and if anything breakes.

Reason I'm also opening this because I'm looking for volunteers who own Casio graphing calculators and would be willing to test Linux builds. Hardware testing will help verify that each calculator's development branch works properly before I submit patches to the Linux kernel maintainers.

If you're interested in helping, please let me know which calculator model you have .

Finally a cool project, in a heck of a long time!

I've been wondering if this could be doable considering how RAM-constrained those models tend to be...

(BTW, don't really have any monochrome calcs on hand, so I can't do a first-hand test, but I guess I could lend a hand on some SH7305 modules, also try putting an [at]RDP on news you put so that the forum editors can put you on the next review [à quand la prochaine RDP? ])

LDA,

Thanks,
RAM is so tight, but once figured out it would be a sigh of a relief.
Although that's expected, 512kb's of RAM cmon.

RDP, is a good thing I will take that into my account.

Also I'm looking forward to reverse engineer a CFX-9800G
sometime..

Also LDA, I did boot Linux couple days ago with 36kb ram left out,
so I proved that it can boot, but maintainer on Linux they plan to move on to
Device Trees currently working on them. I'm still onto this RAM debt trying to fix it.

Per my G-III memory map, you can take 24 kB of unused RAM at 0x8802A000 and the first 24 kB of OS stack at 0x88040000.

Not to dampen any hopes, but a custom OS is not something we want to see. We are riding a very fine line with CASIO regarding exam mode security. It's been clear than if anything happens all native programming is gone. Modded OSes is a big no-no because for reasons I think you can picture.

Very cool otherwise!
